Log Cabin Village
If modern life is stressing you out, take a trip back to a simpler time at Log Cabin Village. This “living history” museum features seven Texas log houses – some dating back to the mid-1800s – furnished with authentic artifacts. One of the cabins was owned by the family of Cynthia Parker, who was taken by Comanche Indians as a child and integrated into the tribe. This remarkable woman later became the mother of legendary Quanah Parker, the last chief of the Comanches.
Each log house displays a different aspect of pioneer life. There’s a water-powered grist mill, a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, an herb garden, and several log home settings. Historical interpreters depict the lifestyle of the pioneers who settled the area, offering a unique glimpse into a nearly forgotten past.
